What began as a personal project has since become a commission-based series. On a road trip down the West Coast a couple of years ago, I became inspired by the dreamy, bubble-gum-coloured, urban California landscape. Turning inland, past the urban sprawl, I found ghost towns in abundance.
Once returning home to south-eastern Ontario, I realized that my own area struggled to adapt to globalization and urbanization. With many main street storefronts sitting empty, I wondered if my town would eventually become ghost towns as well. I began documenting the buildings around me. Gradually, a style emerged. Minimalistic, almost pop-art, and post-impressionistic.
Today, both people and companies from government organizations, breweries, media agencies, banks, and curators with personal collections have commissioned my work.
